The UJM Institutes of Technology (Saint-Etienne and Roanne IUT), represented by Muriel Fabrèges, Antoine Pélicand and Julien Strignano (CLIL4ALL members), took part in the Matchmaking event organised by the European Alliance Transform for Europe (T4EU) on Tuesday 25th November 2025.
During the workshop entitled “Experience-sharing session: Content teaching beyond Language Barriers”, around twenty teachers from T4EU partner universities discussed the obstacles to increasing the quality and the number of teachers in English-taught programmes for the institutions concerned. More specifically, the discussions focused on the role of tailored programmes and solutions to increase the number of teachers who use English primarily, as well as other languages, in their courses.
The three UJM members of CLIL4ALL caught this opportunity to break down the components of the concrete results of this European programme. In particular, they discussed the creation of a Best Practice Guide as an essential information base for any approach to designing courses in English for teachers who do not know how to start their lectures/workshops sequence in this language. The relevant pilots (joint modules, intensive week, etc.) that make up this guide generate concrete scenarios that teachers can draw inspiration from in their universities.
The CLILL experience will be further showcased in the future: one of the T4EU alliance’s development priorities is the creation of European degrees that should meet the multilingualism criteria set by the European Commission. The members of the T4EU alliance have therefore agreed to meet again at upcoming events to strengthen their language policy together. The detailed examples on the CLIL website will serve as a basis for inspiration in designing their new curricula.
CLIL is progressing, CLIL4ALL is being exported…
